Resurrection Prologue

By Icy Brian

Clive stepped off of the raft and onto the dock. It had been so long since he was last in Rikon. The smell of salt was in the air as he walked up the hill. He looked down at the people below him, scowling at their simple lives. They had nothing to fear, no reason to hate. Their lives were perfect, and he despised them for it. He jumped off the ridge and walked into the inn. The innkeeper heard the door and looked up from his papers.

"Clive? It's been a while. What've you been up to lately?"

"Take a guess." He responded coldly. He walked over to the spot in the corner where he normally stood and gazed at the wall.

"Still haven't found her, eh? You may have been better off staying here. The other day some strange woman was walking around outside. She didn't say a word, just walked down to the docks, knelt by the water's edge, and then left. I couldn't make out her face. It was covered with a black cloak. Strange garment, if I do say so myself. The back of it had the head of some odd beast on it, one half of the head a tiger, the other a lion."

"What!" Clive turned to face him.

"Oh, is that her?"

"No. It just sounds like someone an... acquaintance warned me about." He straightened his hood and looked back up at the innkeeper. "He said that she was extremely dangerous. Much worse than... her." Clive started towards the door. "I must go warn him. From what he told me, his life is surely in danger." He opened the door and started to step outside, when the innkeeper called his name. He turned back around to face him. "Yeah?"

"Be careful. Who knows what you're getting into this time." Clive grinned.

"Hey, I'm still alive, ain't I?" Clive left the inn and quickly walked out of town.
