Final Fantasy VIII Script: Disc Four and Sub-Quests Version 1.1 By Mark Wong, aka LightSoul Began 23 February, 2000 Completed on 2 April, 2000 Send comments, additions and corrections to lightsoul@prontomail.com My page is at: www.geocities.com/lightsoul_dash/index.html It's not as bad as it used to be. If you want to use this on your web page, you'll have to ask me through the above e-mail address first. If it's just for you to read, or reference, then it's fine. This script is free to the public. I'm assuming you've played and finished the game to be reading this script. Being the full script, it does, of course, contain spoilers. I've tried to include the dialogue for all the characters, including areas where your current party informs you of their opinions. This can be difficult at times, and sometimes, the only dialogue will be that of Zell and Rinoa, my usual party. If one of them is unavailable, they are usually replaced by Irvine. It's so hard writing this thing! Unlike in previous FF's, people in towns, etc, walk around and appear in screens at random! Plus, their stories change a lot more. How to read this thing. Well, it's pretty straightforward. The script is divided into parts as seen in the contents. <> Signifies a choice, where the player must choose one option or the other. The choices will follow, enclosed in <<>>. The choices and their outcomes will be shown one by one, and the choice will end when signified by <>. An asterisk means when you engage in conversation with another person that is not automatic. The asterisk is often followed by a name, or a description of the person being talked to. If the name is followed by second, third time, etc., this means that the person says something different each time they are talked to. Card next to their name means they say that when talked to with the Square button. Change rules dialogue has not been included in this script. <> Means an action that happens. These are often automatic. If you're sending corrections and additions, please tell me what part is wrong, and what the error is. So if there was a mistake in the Garden war section, write Disc two, Reunion, Garden War, and the mistake along with the corrections, or the addition, well, you know! Rinoa "I'll...Probably disappear..." Squall "Just stay by my side. I won't let you disappear!!!" FMV Sequence. As Squall and his friends head for the bottom of the ocean, they burst out the surface and begin to fly. Many flocks of birds come at once, engulfing the screen. They begin to spin in a vortex and disappear into the stream of time compression. End Scene. Scene: Deling City-Presidential Residence. Squall and his party appear here. As Squall approaches the Save Point here, it splits into many. When Squall walks into the next room, he sees what looks like Edea. Edea stands and splits into four. Squall and party enters battle with many strange sorceresses spreading over many areas and eras. First comes the Presidential Palace, Timber, a beach, Esthar City, the Training Centre, Trabia Snowfields, Balamb Garden, D-District Prison, Fire Cavern, Winhill, and the final battle in an unknown battlefield. After the battle, they find themselves at Edea's house. Edea's House-Back Squall "...Future SeeDs...We're fighting across generations." FMV Sequence. Have you seen a little boy?" Squall "You don't have to worry. The boy won't go anywhere." Edea "I think so, too. Poor thing..." Squall "...You're alive!?" Edea "...The sorceress?" Squall "Yes, Matron." "We had defeated her..." "Matron, stand back." Edea "It's ok. There's no more need to fight." "That sorceress is just looking for someone to pass her powers on to." "In order to die in peace, a sorceress must be free of all her powers. I know...for I am one, too." "I shall take over that sorceress' powers. I do not want one of the children to become one." Sorceress Ultimecia "I...can't...disappear yet." Squall "Matron!" Edea "Is this...the end?" Squall "...Most likely." Edea "You called me Matron. Who...are you?" Squall "A SeeD. "You're...that boy from the future?" Squall "...Matron." Edea "Please return. You do not belong here." (Young) Squall "...I can't find Sis." "...Am I...all alone?" "Who's he?" Edea "Nobody. You don't need to know." "The only Squall permitted here is you." Edea "Do you know where to go back to? Do you know how?" "Will you be all right by yourself?" Squall (...I'll be all right, Matron.) Squall (Because I'm not alone.) Squall (...I'm not alone.) (...If I call out, they will answer.) Squall "Where is everyone!?" "Rinoa! Where are you!?" "Zell! Selphie! Quistis! Irvine!" "Rinoa!" (...Am I...alone?) (Rinoa? I want to hear your voice.) (Which way...do I go?) (I can't make it back...alone.) "Rinoa?" (Am I...all alone again?) (Where...am I?) FMV Sequence. The scene becomes a bit distorted as Squall comes out of the nothingness and onto a rocky plain with a green sky. The area resembles the one in the opening movie. As the camera pans up and across, it looks like the plains go on forever. Squall looks around himself and realises that he will be walking for a long time. He sighs and begins walking. Time passes and it feels like he's been walking forever. The skies turn grey and resemble the waves of the sea. After a lot of aimless walking, Squall's pace becomes slower and his steps become shorter. When he can walk no longer, he finds himself on the edge, over a sea of compressed time. Squall looks behind him. The large desert has reduced to a very small island among time compression. All his efforts in vain, Squall sits down. He seems like he's given up. Elsewhere, Rinoa runs around looking all over for Squall. The skies are filling with thunderclouds. Among the field of flowers she stops, looking to the skies. She looks like she may cry as she holds Squall's ring in her left hand. She looks up again. Still in the same place, Squall looks up to the skies to see a glowing feather floating towards him. The feather flutters slowly towards him and lands neatly in his right hand. He sees wings spreading from Rinoa's back and then disappear from the flower field. Squall stands behind her, his back to the orange sky. He calls out Rinoa's name, but looks worried as she does not respond. Finally, she turns around but the image of her face becomes rippled. An image of Seifer quickly appears. Then one of Rinoa hanging on the side of Balamb Garden and another of her in the spacesuit, but both images of Rinoa have no faces. Squall remembers the dance at Balamb, but when Rinoa turns to him, her face is blurred. A faceless Rinoa is seen at the presidential residence at Deling City. The dance once more, but this time, Rinoa's face is transparent. The scene at the presidential residence is quickly shown once more. This time, a blurred Rinoa is at the dance scene. The presidential residence scene is shown twice more, her face still blurred. The dance scene returns, but Rinoa's face is much more blurred than before. The scene repeats over and over, each time with Rinoa's face becoming more blurred. Rinoa is seen in outer space in her space suit. Her face is blurred again. At the dance scene, Rinoa is not there. She appears, but then disappears once more. Again, she reappears and disappears. As Rinoa walks towards Squall, she disappears. Squall's ring floats past the screen. A close-up of Rinoa shows, then the scene with the X-ATM092. Quistis looks at it, the light from the machine gun against her face. Zell waves his hand to say 'come on!'. Rinoa's face is shown, full of fear from the scene where Squall was stabbed by Edea's fearsome Ice Strike. Selphie is seen atop the cliff at Dollet, and Irvine at Galbadia Garden. The Ragnarok is shown, firing its machine guns. Rinoa lets her hair blow in the wind the first time Balamb Garden becomes mobile. When she turns around, her face is blurred. Seifer is seen dragging Rinoa to Adel. The communication tower's operation shows, then Rinoa extending her hand for Squall as he falls. An image of an explosion appears. The scene where Squall drives to the gateway in Deling City is then shown. When he arrives, Seifer and Edea aren't there. Instead, Rinoa is there, alone on the Balamb Garden ballroom floor. She raises her index finger and walks towards the screen. The room rotates as Rinoa continually disappears and reappears. Many of the key moments with Rinoa flash across the screen. A shot of Ultimecia appears, then a close up of her eyes. The eyes of Rinoa, Squall, Seifer and others rush across the screen quickly. As these memories became faster and faster, Rinoa runs from them as she did at the Sorceress Memorial. Her face becomes blurred again. Squall is shown with a large, black whole where his face should be. Rinoa is shown in her space suit again, but the glass on her helmet shatters. Squall's wide open eye sheds a long tear. He looks up and the screen is overcome by white. The glowing feather falls slowly and silently to the white floor. In the desert island, Rinoa comes through time compression. The song 'Eyes On Me' begins to play. Rinoa sees Squall lying motionless on the ground. She sits next to him and takes him in her arms. She wipes his hair away from his closed eyes. Because it would seem that Squall is dead, she begins to cry. She pulls Squall close and cries on his arm. At that moment, thousands of petals blow across the area. They have returned to the flower field. The sky of time compression moves away to make way for the sky illuminated by sunlight. Rinoa looks up and sees the blue skies overtaking the compression. She looks relieved. She then looks at Squall and she smiles. Along with the flower petals fly dozens of white feathers. A fishing float sits in the clear blue waters of Balamb. It belongs to Seifer, who sits at the dock holding a fishing rod. Seifer looks bored, and keeps watching the float, which does not move. He looks to the side and sees Raijin looking excited, holding up the fish he has just caught. Seifer stands up and angrily throws his rod to the floor. Dancing with his back to Fujin, Raijin is unexpectedly pushed in the back by her foot. Raijin falls into the water and Seifer laughs heartily. He then looks up as a shadow passes over he and his friends. Balamb Garden passes by overhead, and Seifer smiles. The feather flies to the countryside, where Laguna stands in the fields. He looks at his hand and sees a ring on his finger. The scene then changes to the past, before Raine had died. Laguna looks at his open hand in the evening. Raine comes up to him from behind. Laguna turns around and Raine smiles. Laguna scratches his head and Raine looks at him curiously. Laguna waves, turns, and begins to walk away. Raine extends her arm and begins to walk after him. Laguna turns around, and holds her hand. He then slides a ring onto her finger. Raine holds the ring in front of her face and stares at it for a little while. She then gives a big smile to Laguna. Laguna lifts his hand up and shows Raine his ring. Raine then does the same. Raine then hugs Laguna and begins to cry. The scene changes back to the present day. Laguna walks to a lone headstone and kneels down next to it. The words 'RAINE Loire' are embedded on it. Laguna smiles, then turns around. He sees Ellone walking towards him, waving. Kiros and Ward are behind her, wearing their old clothes. Ward also waves. Laguna waves back. Ellone looks up, and the Laguna does also. Balamb Garden passes over them. DISC FOUR: ULTIMECIA Credits FMV Sequence. A camcorder turns on and we see what it sees for the duration of this movie. Selphie laughs as it turns and then operates it. The scene is a party at Balamb Garden. First we see Irvine trying to impress Quistis by dancing. Quistis doesn't seem impressed, however. Noticing the camera, she turns to it and waves. Irvine interrupts by blocking her from the camera. Irvine puts his hand around Quistis and waves, but she pushes him away. Irvine looks disappointed. Quistis walks to Cid and begins to converse with him. Cid soon sees the camera and raises his wine glass. He then calls Edea over. Irvine takes off his hat and he and Quistis bow to their former matron. Edea bows back. Irvine then takes the camera from Selphie. Selphie stands next to Quistis, wearing Irvine's hat, but the shot is sideways. Selphie motions at Irvine, and the camera is then put the right way up. Selphie then begins to wave, but Irvine moves the camera to three girls from the Garden and waves. They wave back, but Selphie interrupts. The camera then follows Selphie and Quistis. Selphie points, and then we see Zell at a table with the girl from the library. Zell is filling his face with hot dogs. When the camera zooms in, he tries to hide himself from it. He begins to choke, and looks into his cup to find it empty. Selphie and Quistis then begin to pat him on the back. No longer choking, Zell stands up furiously, chasing Quistis and Selphie away, but also the girl with the pigtail. Zell looks at the camera and throws a hot dog at it, hitting it dead centre. When the shot returns, we see Selphie. She points to the side, and Irvine moves the camera in that direction. We see Rinoa outside on the balcony. When the camera zooms in, the low battery sign appears. Rinoa raises her index finger to someone obscured by the wall. The battery then goes dead and the movie ends. Online Help GF Junction Junction Tutorial Junction enables characters to power up and use abilities. This means A GF must be junctioned in order to power up and use abilities. Let's begin by junctioning a GF. Right now, no GF is junctioned. All other commands in grey cannot be selected yet. Once Junction is selected, the GF and Magic commands appear. Since no GF is junctioned, Magic is displayed in grey. Let's junction a GF. By selecting GF, a GF list appears. Press Square to see abilities possessed by a GF. The abilities are HP Junction, Vitality Junction, etc. Let's choose a GF. When GF Quezacotl is selected, its abilities, HP-J and Vit-J make the stats HP and Vit appear in white. Magic can now be junctioned to HP and Vit. But, since there is currently no magic, we will move onto setting abilities. There are 3 command abilities and 2 non-command abilities for characters and party. A total of 5 abilities can be set. Depending on the GF's abilities, the maximum is 4 non-command abilities. This means that up to 7 abilities can be set. Let's set some abilities. First, select a slot. The top window is for Command abilities used during battle. The bottom window is for character and party abilities. Selecting the top window displays command abilities, and selecting the bottom window displays character and party abilities. Since there is currently no magic, let's set the command ability, Draw, to get some magic. When an empty slot is chosen, the cursor moves to the right. Select Draw to set the command, Draw. This is how command abilities used during battle are set. Let's add GF and Item to the list of command abilities. Now GF and Item are set. Let's set a non-command ability. By moving the cursor down, a character ability is displayed. Now, to set Mag+20%, select an empty slot, and select Mag+20%. Mag+20% is now set. Abilities have now been set. This concludes the tutorial. Thank you, and good luck. Online Help Magic Junction Junctioning Magic By junctioning magic, you can raise your character's stats. If the GF has learned the ability to junction onto stats, that particular stat will be displayed in white. By selecting Junction here, the GF and Magic commands will appear. You are able to junction magic by selecting Magic. When Magic is selected, a list of magic appears. Use the cursor to select which stat to junction. When Str is selected, choose a magic with the cursor. You can see how the stat value changes with each magic. When a magic is selected, the magic will be displayed next to the stat and the value will change. Only one magic can be assigned to each stat. However, there is no need to junction magic manually, one by one. Select Auto after junctioning. 'Auto' junctions magic automatically. There are 3 commands to choose from. Atk favours strength, Mag favours magic, and Def favours raising HP. Thus, magic can be junctioned easily by using Auto. For example, let's select the Atk junction. Magic has been junctioned to favour Strength. This concludes the Magic Junction tutorial. Online Help Junction to Elements Junction can change basic parameters such as Strength and Magic, as well as elemental parameters. By junctioning a GF with elemental junction ability, as magic is junctioned, the EL-A/D slot above HP turns white, indicating an elemental junction. When left is selected, the elemental junction screen appears. Elemental junction works like other junctions. First, select a stat to junction, then choose a magic to finish the junction. However, non-elemental magic like Cure cannot be junctioned. Elemental junction affects attack and defence differently. Junctioning to Elem-Atk links that element to a character's Attack. The % indicates how much of the attack's damage is linked to that element. At the maximum value of 100%, the Attack becomes entirely elemental. In the example, Ice is at 50%; this means that damage only increases by 50%. When junctioned to Elem-Def, the damage from that element is reduced. Reduction of damage is shown in %. At 100%, damage is reduced to 0. In the example, fire damage is reduced to 20%, because Elem-Def is at 80%. * is displayed when the value goes over 100%, indicating that damage is absorbed. In this state, you can absorb the amount of damage indicated in %. In the example, 50% of fire damage is absorbed. Multiple magic types can be junctioned to Elem-Def, depending on the GF's ability. Junction multiple magic types with the same elemental for a cumulative effect. Try junctioning different magic to check the effect. You can also select Auto to automatically junction the most effective elemental magic. This concludes the Elemental Junction Tutorial. Online Help Junction to Status Status Junction Explanation By junctioning a GF with status junction ability, as magic is junctioned, the ST-A/D slot above HP turns white, indicating a status junction. Press left here twice to see the Status Junction screen. Status junction works the same way as elemental junction. First, select a stat to junction, the select a magic to complete the junction. However, magic with no status change, like Fire, cannot be junctioned. Status junction affects attack and defence differently. Junctioning to ST Atk gives that status change to Attack. The status change probability is indicated in %. In the example, there is a 90% chance of afflicting an enemy with Darkness. 100% is the maximum value, but there are enemies who may not be affected, even with 100% ST-Atk. Junctioning to ST-Def reduces the probability of status change. Probability is displayed in %. No status is change will occur at 100%. In the example, the effect of Sleep attack is reduced by 80%. However, depending on the enemy attack, status change may still occur at 100%. You can junction multiple magic types to ST-Def, depending on the GF's ability. Some magic, like Esuna, will defend against multiple status changes. Try junctioning different magic to check the effect. Select Auto to junction the most effective status magic automatically. Online Help GF Tutorial A GF will level up as it gains experience (EXP), and learn new abilities by gaining AP (Ability Points). From EXP and AP: EXP gained from battles automatically levels up the GF, while AP gained during battle can be distributed, to learn different abilities. Decide how to distribute the points. Let's go over how a GF can learn different abilities. Select GF from the menu to display the GF acquired. When Shiva is selected, Shiva's stats are shown. This displays its EXP, LV, and compatibility between characters, etc., but by selecting Learn, Shiva's ability list is displayed. Abilities in white, such as Str-J are abilities already learned, while abilities in grey have not been learned yet. The first number in grey shows the AP spent towards learning, and the second number shows the AP required to complete. Vit-J shows that 50 AP are required, of which 0 AP has been spent. In order to learn the ability Elem-Atk-J, move the cursor to Elem-Atk-J and confirm. Elem-Atk-J will then be displayed to the left, under Learning. From here on, all AP gained will be used for Elem-Atk-J. When all 160 AP are gained, Elem-Atk-J is learned. Once the ability is learned, AP will automatically move to an ability not yet learned. With each learned ability comes a different set of abilities to learn. The order of learning affects the GF's powers. Therefore, it is recommended to return to this screen to set the next ability. This concludes the tutorial. Thank you, and good luck. Online Help Squall's Status Screen The Status Screen displays each character's basic data. The first screen shows stats such as HP, Str, etc. The second screen shows all the status and elemental-related information. The third status screen shows GF-related information. The fourth status screen shows Limit Break information. Squall's gunblade settings can be changed in the Limit Break screen. There are two settings: Gunblade Auto, Renzokuken Indicator. If you select Gunblade Auto to ON, Renzokuken hits automatically without having to press R1. However, a 'Perfect' may not be possible with this option. You must select OFF and press R1 manually at the right time. If the Renzokuken Indicator is turned OFF, the indicator will not be displayed during Renzokuken. If the Gunblade Auto option is turned ON, the Renzokuken Indicator is turned OFF automatically. That's all for Squall's Limit Break. Online Help Zell's Status Screen Zell's Limit Break settings can also be changed in the Status screen. If Duel-Auto is turned ON, the Limit Break Duel will execute automatically. The Limit Break moves listed on the screen are selected randomly. That's all for Zell's Limit Break. Online Help Rinoa's Status Screen Rinoa's Limit Break uses Angelo. The tricks Angelo can learn are listed on the Status screen. The fourth status screen lists all the tricks that Angelo can learn. The gauge on the right indicates how much has been learned. When the gauge is full, the trick has been learned. If the gauge is not full, the trick has yet to be learned. To learn a new trick, move the cursor to the trick name and press Cross. Now as Rinoa walks around, the gauge will fill up, and Angelo will learn the trick. If you select a trick that has already learned, there will be a message before you close this screen. If there is still a trick to learn, be sure to select it. You can learn new tricks by reading a magazine called Pet Pals. After reading Pet Pals, access this screen to change the settings. That's all for Rinoa's Limit Breaks. Online Help Switch At the Switch, party members and junction can be switched. To change party members, select Switch Member, choose a replacement, then select member being replaced. The members will switch places. However, please note that there are times when certain characters cannot join the party. The other command, Junction Exchange exchanges the magic, GF, junctioned magic, and the abilities between characters. This way, the replacing member can take over all abilities at once. The process is the same as Switch Member. Select a replacement, then the member to be replaced, to activate the command. Please note that this process may change the member's current HP. This concludes the Switch explanation. Card Game Rules Introduction Card Rules 1/13 The cards originated when a psychic named Orlan modified these tarot cards for games. Referred to as: Junctioning GF to a character. "Magic junctioned to a character" and "GF junctioned to a character" fall under this category. Junction enables a character to use magic and summon GF. GF signifies Guardian Forces. As allies, they provide the ability to use magic and commands. They can also be summoned to fight in a battle. GF also gain levels with EXP as you do, and learns abilities with AP. Every character has 9 stats: Hit Points, Strength, Vitality, Magic, Spirit, Speed, Evade, Hit and Luck. The values assigned to the stats reflect their level. HP signifies Hit Points. HP represents the life force of the character. Zero HP represents KO. The value of Strength determines the degree of damage caused by a physical attack. The higher the Strength, the greater the damage to the enemy. The value of Vitality determines the degree of damage a character can endure from a physical attack. A character with high Vitality suffers less damage from physical attacks. The value of Magic determines the degree of damage caused by a magic attack. Higher Magic causes more magical damage. The chance of successfully casting magic that cause status abnormalities becomes higher if your magic level is high. A high Magic level also allows you to restore more HP with healing magic like Cure. The value of Spirit determines the degree of damage a character can endure from a magic attack. A character with high Spirit suffers less damage from magic attacks. The value of Speed determines the speed of the character's ATB meter. It takes the character a shorter time to act is this value is high. The value of Evade determines the character's ability to dodge physical attacks. Characters that have high Evade can dodge physical attacks more easily. The value of Hit determines the accuracy of a physical attack. Accuracy increases as the Hit level increases. However, your target's Evade level can affect the accuracy of your physical attack. Luck affects numerous actions of the character in the game. For example, having a higher value of Luck is an advantage during battle. EXP signifies experience points gained in battle by characters and GF. Levels go up after gaining EXP. Damaging an enemy gives EXP. The amount of EXP received changes according to the difference in character and enemy level. Higher level enemies are worth more, lower level enemies are worth less. The character or the GF to give the final blow receives bonus EXP. AP signifies Ability Point. GF receive AP by defeating enemies. AP is used by GF to learn abilities. Once enough AP are gained, GF learns the ability being studied. Attacks are categorised into physical and magic attacks. Physical attack means damaging an enemy with a sword or other physical weapons. Magic attack means damaging an enemy with magical force. These attacks come into play in order to attack enemies effectively. Every character carries magic. Magic stock decreases when used. Raise stats by junctioning magic to them. There are 3 ways to obtain magic. -Draw it from enemies. -Draw it from draw points. -Refine it from items. One of the battle commands. This command allows allies to draw magic from enemies. When drawing, choose either Stock to store the magic, or Cast to use it. A character at a high level can draw magic more efficiently than a character at a low level. Some magic cannot be drawn unless a character is at a high level. Stock is one of the Draw commands. The command allows characters to store drawn magic for future use. GF How GF Level Up GF's Ability Compatibility with GF GF's Skill How GF Level Up GF gain experience when junctioned allies fight in a battle. GF level up with EXP gained, just as party members do. If multiple GF are junctioned to 1 ally, EXP is divided among GF, and may slow their levels from going up. GF's Ability When you set an ability for a GF to learn in the GF screen, that GF gains AP in battle. Once the required number of AP are gained, the ability is learned. GF automatically begin learning the next ability. To choose a specific ability, go to the menu GF screen. GF also learn abilities from items, but can only learn a maximum of 22 abilities. Compatibility with GF A higher compatibility stat shortens the summoning time. Compatibility goes up or down depending on the junctioned ally's actions. Sometimes compatibility with a certain GF goes up, while it goes down with other GF. Some items change the compatibility stat. Dollet A small country on the eastern coast of Galbadia continent (formerly Dollet). Remnant of an ancient empire. Timber A city located south of Dollet in the forest area. It was an independent country before neighbouring country Galbadia invaded 18 years ago. There are numerous resistance groups fighting for independence to this day. Timber TV Station All forms of communication now use HD cables. No radio transmissions are used. Timber TV Station keeps its radio systems, waiting for the day radio transmission is restored. Galbadia Ruled under the military dictatorship of President Vinzer Deling, this country continues to expand its territory. Countless invasions of other countries are attempted, but most are deterred by SeeD. Deling City is its capital. Tomb of the Unknown King Located north of Deling City; the burial place of Dollet's last emperor. The tomb remains nameless due to an ancient belief that calling a dead king by his name brings bad luck. There are unconfirmed reports that a GF resides inside, as well as other monsters. Winhill A small town outside of Galbadia. It is actually a small village. Sorceress Adel of Esthar ordered attacks on this village several times. D-District Prison Located in the desert south of Deling City, all people deemed dangerous by the government are sent to this facility. It has become a symbol of President Deling's fascist policies. The mild climate and temperament of the people soon gave way to scientific advancement. Esthar (2) Started the Sorceress War and fought against the world under Adel's rule. Their sorceress and their scientific powers posed a worldwide treat. After abruptly declaring an end to the war, Esthar closed its borders and has kept silent ever since. No details are known. Esthar (3) Governed by President Laguna and his aides. Due to their concern over Dr. Odine's inventions having a negative effect on the state of world security, they closed off their country for 17 years. It is very likely that President Laguna will be criticized for keeping silent for so long. Seaside Station A station on the Esthar side of Horizon Bridge. It is currently abandoned. Great Salt Lake A lake on the Esthar continent. What used to be a beautiful lake is now a barren field. It's speculated that Esthar's experiments led to the lake's destruction. Garden Balamb Garden was founded 12 years ago, followed by Galbadia and Trabia Gardens. Each Garden has an administrator, called Master, and a headmaster. Balamb Garden's Headmaster Cid was founder of the Garden. SeeD (1) Balamb Garden's mercenary force. Students 15 and older can participate in the written and field exams. They must pass both exams to become SeeD. SeeD members are paid by the Garden according to their rank. In the Garden, their status is no different from that of the other students. SeeD (2) SeeD conducts missions around the world. Most missions involve battle support and undercover work. SeeD is in high demand by groups requiring a small force of undercover specialists. Commissions made through such dispatches are an important part of Balamb Garden's income. SeeD (3) SeeD battle operations are noted for their skillful use of para-magic. However, short transmissions are still possible. Believed to have some relation to the moon, but details are unknown. Radio Interference (2) Most countries now communicate through the use of HD cables running underground. However, many of these cables are cut off by monsters or in battle. Many countries are left without any means of communicating with each other. Lunar Cry Refers to monsters falling from the moon. Completely destroyed the cities of Centra. Occurs when monsters reach a saturation point on the moon. It's believed that there are factors on the planet that cause this phenomenon. This phenomenon has occurred many times in history and will reoccur in the future. Monsters Creatures on the moon. Monsters fall to earth at regular intervals. Crystal Pillar A crystal that causes the Lunar Cry by producing a strong energy field between the planet and the moon. It's believed to have originated in the moon. The Crystal Pillar responds to a specific location on the planet, and sends a strong directional signal. More research is required to analyse this process in detail. Lunatic Pandora An enclosure for Crystal Pillar made by Esthar. 3 miles tall and 1.5 miles wide, the enormous enclosure boasts a high-tech facility. It floats by causing a reaction with the Crystal Pillar. A stone from the moon is sealed inside. It was probably built to cause the Lunar Cry through artificial means. Tears' Point Lunar Cry's point of origin determined by Esthar scientists. A security box restraining the power of the Crystal Pillar and ground energy field is set up. It is sealed to prevent the Crystal Pillar from entering the area. Adel's Tomb A high-tech device intended for weakening and confining a sorceress' power. Shot into the moon's orbit after going through a special sealing process. Used to confine Sorceress Adel. It is the main cause of radio interference on the planet.
