How To Get The Rainbow (From Walkthrough):

5. Get the Rainbow Shell.

A. After you get Crono back in your party, go to the Cafe - 600 A.D. and talk to Toma. Toma will give you a "soda pop" (Toma's Pop) and ask you to pour it on his grave if he doesn't make it back.

B. Go to the West Cape - 1000 A.D. and pour Toma's Pop on his grave. This will happen automatically when you push the A Button at his grave.

C. Toma's ghost will appear and open up Giant's Claw - 600 A.D. for you.

D. Go to Giant's Claw and work your way through it to reach Rust Tyrano. After you defeat him, walk straight up to find the Rainbow Shell.

E. At this time, you won't be able to lift the Rainbow Shell.. Start to exit Giant's Claw and you'll automatically be taken to Guardia Castle.

F. The king will send some men to carry the Rainbow Shell back to Guardia Castle. He'll tell you that he's building a special basement to keep the shell in for you.

G. Return to Guardia Castle - 1000 A.D. with Marle in your party. You'll learn that the King has been put on trial. Go right and up, then up the left tower to find the court room. Once you learn what's going on, go to the right basement.

H. Fight the enemies and work your way straight up to find the Rainbow Shell. You will automatically grab a piece of it (Prism Shard) and return to the courtroom.

I. You will now have to fight Yakra XIII. Once you defeat him, follow Melchior to the basement where the Rainbow Shell is, and he'll make you some great items.

.

6. Get the Moon Stone/Sun Stone.

A. After you defeat Dalton on the Blackbird, go to the Sun Palace - 2300 A.D. Inside, fight Son of Sun. Once you defeat him, walk straight up to get the Moon Stone.

B. Go to the Sun Keep - 65,000,000 B.C. and place the Moon Stone in the sunshine. Then journey to the Sun Keep - 1000 A.D.

C. When you arrive, you'll notice that the Moon Stone is gone. Now go to the Mayor's Manor - 1000 A.D. Inside, you'll find a man who has the Moon Stone but won't give it to you.

D. Walk over to the Snail Stop - 1000 A.D. and buy the Jerky for 9,900 gold. Once done, go to the Elder's House - 600 A.D. and GIVE the Jerky to the woman inside. (Don't sell it! Make sure that you give it to her for free.)

E. The woman will teach her children to be generous. Return to the Mayor's Manor - 1000 A.D. The man will now give back the Moon Stone.

F. Go back to the Sun Keep - 1000 A.D. and place the Moon Stone in the sunshine again. Now go to Sun Keep - 2300 A.D.

G. When you get inside, you'll notice that the Moon Stone has changed into the Sun Stone. Put Lucca into your party and she will make some great weapons and items! If you have the Rainbow Shell and combine it with the Sun Stone, you will create the best sword in the game for Crono (the Rainbow).
