To get to the Gold Saucer, you're going to have to pass through the Corel Mountains, which lie to the west of Costa Del Sol. This area starts out easy enough, as the first few enemies you encounter are creampuffs. Make note of the Beach Plugs on the shore line, as they possess the incredibly useful Big Guard Enemy Skill, but wouldn't dream of casting it on you; you'll want to come back for it later, though. Head up the trails towards North Corel, Barret's hometown; once you see the ominous sight of the Mako Reactor ahead of you, you know you're there. Take note of the Dinosaur-like Bagnadona enemies in the area, for you can steal the Diamond Pin, a new weapon for Red XIII, from them. Head south of the reactor and explore the region. Once you reach the train tracks, save your game and go grab the goodies on the tracks. You should be able to pick up the W Machine Gun, a Double AP Weapon for Barret, a Turbo Ether, and the Transform Materia. Also, when the tracks seem ready to collapse, don't jump! Instead, keep punching the O button, and fall to either the right or the left. You should be able to pick up Aeris' Double AP Wizard Staff and a third Star Pendant. Once you make it to the bottom bridge, PHS if you want, and then take the top route towards the shed and the switch. Lead the team across the bridge and head forward. When you hear a chirping sound, go climb and investigate. What do you find but a couple of CGI rendered birdies! You can either leave them be and be able to sleep at night, or fight the helpless critters and take their treasure (10 Phoenix Downs). Afterwards, head back down and join the rest of your team. Take the left track and go right once you're underneath it to find a hidden cave with a hermit, who's stockpiled a couple treasures. Once you're done, cross the final bridge and enter North Corel. (BTW, sweet visual as Cloud comes up the ramp and runs into the screen)

Well, here you are in North Corel and Barret's already stirring up trouble with his old friends! After his incident, he runs off to who knows where, and you've got to go find him. Check out the town; the only new thing here is the Force Stealer, Cloud's double AP sword, so if you didn't get it from Rufus, pick it up now. Once you're ready, take the ropeway on the left to the Gold Saucer, the famed arcade that is homme to fun, games, ... and, most recently, Sephiroth.
