Well, you're awake and looking for a way out of jail. Why not try the door? Amazingly, it's open. Investigate and get your friends. Follow the trail to the specimen chamber and from there to the top floor.Watch the event and go after that chopper! Be prepared; you now have to fight four bosses in a row! Barret, Aeris, and Red XIII will have two bosses, while Cloud fights one by himself. The final boss can be fought with whoever you want to use. (Besides Cloud, of course) For now, give Barret, Aeris, and Red XIII Hypers and attack materia, because most regular attacks will be ineffective. Make sure someone has Restore linked to All as well.
BOSS: Hundred Gunner
Hit this guy with Bolt magic repeatedly. Since Barret is the only one who can use normal attacks due to the range, give him Elemental Materia attached to Lightning, so his attacks can do extra damage. Just keep drilling him with Lightning and have Red and Aeris cure when needed. Just have Barret attack and use Limit Breaks. Use your Limit Breaks when you get them. Red XIII's will work, even though you are far apart. You shouldn't have much of a problem. This guy can't do much, but he can soften you up for the next boss.
BOSS: Heligunner
Use the same strategy you used on Hundred Gunner against this guy. When you win, you'll get a Mythril Armlet before switching back to Cloud. Remove the other members' equipment and give it to Cloud.
BOSS: Rufus Shinra
This fight will be Cloud against Rufus and his pet dog, Dark Notion. Dark Notion only has 140 HP, so kill him first. If you don't get rid of him quickly, he can cast Barrier on Rufus and cut your damage in half. Besides, you get a Guard Source for killing him. Rufus has 500 HP and can do about 70-80 points per attack. Just keep hitting him with your best stuff, healing when necessary, and he'll leave. In his haste, he'll also leave you with a Protect Vest.
Save and leave the building. Watch the SWEET FMV and play the cool biking minigame. Pick a party and equip your group. Make sure the three characters you choose have Lightning and that at least one has Restore + All. Be careful to protect the truck, because the more times it gets hit, the more HP you will lose before the major boss. Other than that, have fun and enjoy the ride!
BOSS: Motor Ball
This guy has 2600 HP, and is probably your toughest challenge yet. Hit him with regular attacks, Limit Breaks, and Bolt magic. Heal when necessary and watch out for his Firestyle attack, which can do major damage. If you can survive that, hit him with your charged up Limit Breaks. (For that reason, Barret and Red XIII worked well for me, due to their attack Limit Breaks) When you finish him off, you'll get a Star Pendant. Congratulations! You've just escaped Midgar!
