Vincent is the mysterious man who sleeps in the basement of the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. He has a profound hatred for Shinra, specifically Hojo, for turning him from human to the entity that he is now. Little is known about his past, except that his hatred for Shinra is what made him join Cloud and the others. The gauntlet on his left hand contains great mystical powers, and seems to reflect moonlight. He is a very valuable character to have in your party, with great power in both his attacks and magic. His limit breaks are extremely powerful, as they cause him to morph into powerful creatures with phenomenal strength and abilities.
To get Vincent to join your party, you must travel to Nibelheim and enter the Mansion. After you've opened the safe to receive the key, go down to the basement and use tthe key to open the door to Vincent's room. Talk to him until he has nothing else to say, and let him sleep. Go to the far end of the basement, and an event will happen. Then go through all of the research notes for some interesting bits of information. When you go to leave the basement, Vincent will emerge to join you, particularly for reasons of finding Hojo. If he doesn't come out, it means that you didn't talk to him enough.

Limit Break | Level | How To Get | What It Does |
Garian Beast | 1 | Vincent begins the game with this limit break | NOTE: Whenever Vincent uses one of his limit breaks, his HP is fully refilled. Vincent morphs into a monster with increased speed dodging ability, and a 30% higher HP Max. This is Vincent's fastest form, as it is always in Haste. Berserk Dance does light damage, but is very accurate. Beast Flare does pretty heavy fire-typed damage to all enemies. This is quite powerful for a level 1 limit break! |
Death Gigas | 2 | Vincent must kill sixty enemies to gain this limit break | Death Gigas has increased defense and double HP, but is slow and weak against magic. This form is much slower than Garian Beast, but it's attacks do 50% more damage. Livewire is Lightning-typed, which is more useful than the Fire-typed Beast Flare. Gigadunk is a very powerful attack as well. These are practically useless against bosses who are good at magic. |
Hell Masker | 3 | Vincent must kill an additional sixty enemies to gain this limit break | Hell Masker is strong against physical damage, but has very weak offense. His Splatter Combo is equivalent to Gigadunk, and Nightmare is pretty cool because it gives an enemy Sleep, Poison, Confusion, Silence, Frog, and Mini conditions. Too bad it only hits one enemy. |
Chaos | 4 | Vincent must use the item "Chaos" after mastering all three previous limit breaks | Chaos is incredibly strong on both physical and magical defense, as well as offense. Chaos Saber does the same amount of damage as Gigadunk, but to all enemies! Satan Impact does an immense amount of type-less damage to all targets, and sometimes kills them instantly. Chaos rules! |
