The Gold Saucer
Gold Saucer is an amusement park divided up into eight different parts: the
Station, Wonder Square, Chocobo Races, Battle Square, Speed Square, Ghost
Square, Round Square, and Event Square. I spent a lot of my time here
playing the mini-games (particularly the Snowboarding one), and I reccomend
that you buy the lifetime pass as soon as you possibly can (it costs 30,000
Gil, while a one day pass costs 3,000 Gil).
Most places at the Gold Saucer use GP as the form of currency (e.g. save
spots, Shooting Coaster, Duel, night tour, inn), while the mini-games in
Wonder Square, such as G-Bike and Snowboarding, will accept Gil. You can
earn GP in the Wonder Square mini-games, or at the Chocobo Races (you only
get 10 the first time you enter, after that, you have to get it yourself).
There is a man in the shadows at the Station who will sell you GP for a hundred
gil each (e.g. 1GP = 100 Gil), though he only appears about once in every
65 tries. There are some cool weapons and materia that are exclusive to the
Gold Saucer that are very valuable to have.
